So- I've been following these posts with much interest. In fact, I intended to post a similar story yself. I logge3d on and sa w Robert's issues with possible fuel pump problems.
I have the exact same problem; only different :)
I got my '98 ST2 back from its 6m+ checkup. It has 55.7k miles on the clock.
It ran a little rough under 3k rpm, so I tweaked the pot a bit; ccw about 1 hour- not much. It ran better.
After a while, it started runng rough- like it lost power, then picked up. Adding a little throttle seemed to help, but only a little.
It was about this time I saw Robert M's posts.
I've put reset the trim, added fule cleaner, run at least 2 tanks of gas though it.
I have similar intermittent issues- runs great, then it seems to lose power. One difference is that the idle seems to wander. Sometimes it dies; sometimes it floats to 2k rpm. Weird.
In all the time I've had the ST2, it's never run rough. It has been like a well-wound clock.
I've decided to replace the fuel pump, filter, and hoses. It's not the most scientific troubleshooting proecess, but it'll be cheap.
