I never had a problem with groan from my '98 ST2 but my '02 ST4s groaned badly when doing slow takeoffs in traffic. Pedestrians looked at me as if I didn't know how to ride. Remove the cover and spray brake cleaner inside then air from a compressor to get the dust out. Or switch to an open cover. I switched to Barnett plates (and a Charlie's drum) years ago and it hasn't groaned since.

I piss on my open clutch once a week and have never had groan problems (sometimes I groan, but it's usually, ahhh). Seems to keep the neighborhood cats away too...
