There has been some discussion on lists about it. I also know a couple of people in the NY metro area who have had failed ECUs. It seems to be fairly common. What I've seen is that, one day, the Immobilizer will not let the bike start and the problem is not in the antenna, but the ECU. There's a dealer somewhere (since I don't need to know, it's been forgotten) who can usually reprogram the ECU to work without the Immobilizer and solve the problem.
My real reason for preferring a 2V is that it pisses me off to adjust valves on the 4V bikes. Maybe I'm just getting old and less capable, but it's a total pain. It doesn't help the the first 4V adjustment I did was my 748R, which has tiny valve covers and it took me 2 days to check all and adjust the 4 that needed it. I am seldom 2-up, so the extra HP is just another way to get in trouble.

By "Eh?" do you mean "As somebody who's ridden X0,000 miles on an ST4s I'd like
to know more about this ECU problem"? If so, then "me too"!
