The fuel gauge on the pre-2007 bikes is horrible, it will show empty at half a tank.

I hear the newer bikes are better. What year is your bike?

Filling, go slowly, rock the bike back and forth a bit to get air bubbles out. The tank goes all the way to the rear under the seat. If you remove the rear seat there is a white plastic round piece. That is a one way valve that allows air out of the rear section, up through internal tubes to a vent at the fuel cap.

Sometimes these get messed up, but can be taken apart and reassembled. I've never had an issue with mine.

Both fuel tank related. The fuel gauge tends to show that it needs filling up, although the problem does occasionally go away and the gauge works fine. In the meantime I ride around using the trip counter.

The other problem is I was only able to get the tank about half full yesterday - it was right to the brim, and I tried wiggling the bike around to free any air bubbles.

Has anyone come across either of these problems, and have any solutions?
