Re: [DucatiST] Re: Lunchtime of action, 25th Sept!

Well, I suppose it depends on what you mean by a real issue! They are certainly all under discussion by various governments and bureaucracies, whether they actually come to anything depends at least partly on public reaction to them - aka the democratic process.

Your Skorpion guy sounds a right case - why set up a bike related group if he doesn't want to listen to other peoples' views on biking issues, whoever they are? MAG, incidently, employs very few people, and I'm not one of them! And I think you're right about officialdom's views on motos - there's no way they'd be allowed on the road if they were invented today. Such are the dangers of health and safety.

Cheers - Nick

Hi Nick,

Your last post on this subject (I think it was you?) had a very strange effect on a forum I copied it to. The (MZ) Skorpion group are a bunch of fun chaps, plus the fabled Gorgeous Biker Chick, mostly based in the UK with a bias towards Scotland. We all enjoy single four-strokes, but our discussions range even wider and more humorously than I've ever seen anywhere else, including here!

Anyway, the founder of that group has now left us, purely because he cannot tolerate discussion of moto-legislation. He sees it as scare-mongery and mostly aggrandisement of individuals employed as lobbyists by such as MAG. Apparently his views saw him pilloried in a criminal fashion by members of a bike group not a million miles away from the origins of the Skorpion, and he could not countenance the same happening with us.

A bizarre reaction indeed, but it begs the question as to how confident you are that these are real issues? I tend towards believing that motos are on the hit-list of Euro officials because, of course, they are the single most dangerous phenomenon of modern civilisation....
