I have a '98 ST2 with 56k miles.
Long story short, it won't start.
There is no fuel pump action nor spark.
The last trip, I went about 4 miles, it started running rough, stranded me only a few miles from home. It's good to have friends with trailers....
All fuses check OK; fuse box; by battery; under seat. As the fuel pump didn't run when I turned on the switch, I suspected it had failed.
Replaced 2 fuel pump relays under the seat w/generic auto parts as described in Group.
Replaced fuel pump with Bosch equivalent.
Hooked fuel pump ass'y to under-seat connection before installing in tank; nothing. I expected the fuel pump to run at this point.
Checked for voltage at output plug to fuel pump; nothing.
Checked spark at plugs while running starter; nothing.
Starter turns fine.
Plug was coated w/soot when I took it out for the test(?). used new plug; still no spark.
Any suggestions for other tests?
I suspect the ECU has failed. I opened the rubber cover and saw fine white specs on the surface of the circuit board.
I see a '98 ECU on eBay for $300.
If ya'll think it's the ECU, does anyone have a spare to sell?
I love the information I get from this group. It has helped me through my travails, uh, travels.
