I'm back up to two now, having got my M750 back from Carl Harrison yesterday. I took it to him to do the shims and tune, but also to check out a ferocious knocking sound. Just as well I did, as not only was the clutch centre loose but so was the alternator/flywheel! Both needed new keys and we caught them before they damaged the respective keyways. I don't know if the previous owner suspected anything, but maybe the DP carbon cans meant he couldn't hear the engine! I fitted decibel killers straight away, then got the seat built up (best Monster riding ergos ever, now), changed the gearing and tyres and took a few short rides before deciding that All Was Not Well...
Now the motor is sweet, and I look forward to trying it properly, before it goes in to get the suspension revised, with a Wilbers on the back and rebuilt forks. Good job it's a pretty bike, considering the expense so far!
