Actually Dave, the Ethanol fuel we have here in the states is real crap. We have done independent observation of the current available fuels and they begin to separate in as little as 30 days. If you have 10% ethanol, then you have the potential for as much water. In my RV I have an onboard 35 gallon fuel tank for the generator and learned my lesson 4 years ago when I discovered the carb was stuffed up with junk after a mere 90 days. I was using Sta-Bil red at the time. I use only Sta-Bil marine formula and have had no such incident since. I can walk out 6 months to a year later and the generator starts up with no hesitation.
At work we carry the marine stuff in the parts department and recommend to ALL of our customers that they add it for any extended storage. I work in a multi-line shop that sells ATVs and Jet Skis, as well as 6 different lines of bikes. You would not believe the number of fuel issues we see in any given week. Many, many carb problems, but we also see quite a few injection problems that are simply old fuel related. Sta-Bil's marine formula simply works, period. If you don't have to deal with ethanol, then any fuel stabilizer will do the job.
YMMV
Northern New Jersey, I thought you guys could ride year round!!! <grin> I live in the Great White North, BTW
As far as the fuel stabilizer goes, just get something from the local auto parts store and toss it in. Make sure you add enough, but not too much i.e. read the directions. You have a 21 litre tank (whatever the heck that is in US Gals). (Yes, I know what the conversion is, I am just too lazy to figure it out (21/3.8 if you care).
