Very true, the big flywheel helps too.....make no mistake the nearly 40yr old XR750 has been finely tuned to suit every type of dirt surface, but the rules and "powers above" have intentionally favored American Iron over imports. 

There are a few examples of non-Harleys working on certain tracks.  Kenny Roberts won the Indy Mile on a Yamaha TZ750 two stroke...with arguably the most wicked power band possible.  It was banned the following year.  Seeing this R1 "hookup" on the straights is interesting stuff.  

I would like to see an Exhibition lets say, there are plenty of GNC riders that would spin if for a little gas money.

My understanding is that the cylinder firing rhythm of the 45 degree XR750 is what enables them to win so consistently.

The stutter step power pulses allow the bikes to keep a more even power delivery to the track surface.

More power does not translate into better traction on dirt.
