Re: [DucatiST] Re: Dreaded Tyre/tire thread

Robert I'm sooo annoyed with you:-)

Ahem, that's not why I'm replying to my own post.
I'd just like to add an update and be a little less scathing.

After I wrote this, I checked my tyre pressures. They were 2.0/2.1 bar
(F/R) rather than the recommended 2.1/2.2 for solo, unladen use. I was
surprised to find that putting an extra 5% (0.1 bar) in each made quite
a difference. Admittedly I haven't ridden in rain since then, but the
wobbles induced by the rear tyre were nearly tamed. Only today have
I noticed anything disturbing, as I traversed some strange undulations
on the Diss* road out of Bury St. Edmunds. Of course the warm weather
and lack of rain has probably helped avoid that strange feeling that
somebody/something else is trying to steer the bike. Anyway, I don't
feel so bad about the Angel STs now, but I'm glad I ordered Diablo Corsas
as replacements.

I was interested in Mike Vaughan's comments on the Avon Storm2s.
It sounds as if they have a stickier compound on the front tyre. I'm used
to tyres from Bridgestone and Pirelli that last far longer on the front.
I do a lot of miles, but I think that a stickier, faster wearing, front
could be a good idea. Nick Woods spoke of Storm 2 Ultras -is that the
same tyre or a variation?

Oh, and I'll 'fess up to buying a (Polish!) car for this winter.
(Well, ok it was designed in Italy, so that must be ok:)
