Forgive me; I was NOT trying to argue that they didn't need to be checked.
I was advocating that, within the factory stated acceptable range, they did not need to be adjusted.
I could caveat this with the fact on my 900SS, I had to idiotic side plates on the cam pulley, which keeps the belt on but makes it impossible to change the belts.
