Re: [DucatiST] Re: ExactFit Timing belts

I'll be stuck with a roomful of Desmodue bikes, along with a buncha bevel singles.  Not an issue for me.  The one Desmoquattro can sit in the corner and see if anyone else will talk to it.  I truly do not believe that Ducatisti buy their bikes purely (or even primarily) based on what they view as technical innovation.  All the engine, suspension and traction management introduced on the 1198 and Multi 12 is fascinating and having taken a test ride, I'm impressed beyond words.  The L-Twin, though, has little time left for serious racing and it's hard to imagine what my reaction to a V-4 Duc will be.  Typically, new Ducatis are outside my limited financial means, so it won't matter for a couple of years anyway.  The good part of that is I get to hear about and see all the flaws and fixes.  By the time I can buy one of these bikes, it's working right and will probably be a reasonable purchase.

Then we'll be more like the BevelHeads..........stuck in time with our Desmoquattros and such. I'm good with that, as I'm getting older by the minute. 8^)

Oh, and since I ride an old, slow ST4, I can't possibly appreciate the dead nutz accuracy of the modern valve timing systems. ;-)

Yes, Ducati have adopted chain driven cams to appeased the masses' fears of expensive belts maintenance, not to improve performance. It's a shame really. Soon we may see the demise of desmos too, as Ducati seeks to sell more and more bikes by engineering Ducasukimadaki bikes. :)
