Barry,
The '97/'98 ST2 used a 2 wire stator. The stock regulator was prone
to over heating and failure. My guess is someone replaced it with a
non-stock unit for a 3 wire system - that's how my '98 is setup. You
end up just using 2 of the 3 rectifiers in the regulator.
