EVERY wire coming off of the battery should be fused. The regulator is no different. I was just saying to make sure that the wire running from the regulator to the battery is fused near the battery.
When I bought my bike the wires were all jacked up, the previous owner did a regulator swap and did a horrible job with the wiring. He had used wire nuts to cover two wires wrapped together with no solder. There was also no fuse, which is VERY dangerous.
