My suggestion is call your local M/C mechanic and see if he has an
electronic battery load tester. Charge the battery and let him test
it--(only takes seconds). Lots of unneeded parts have been sold due to
supposed good or bad batteries.
Cheers and good luck---Donn

lots of air flow. I had a 98 ST2 and the reg/rec would work when it was
cold but once it got hot it would stop charging the battery. I attached
leads from a multimeter to a wire plugged into to my powerlet plug. I
put the multimeter in my tank bag map pocket and rode around. Sure
enough, the charging voltage would drop off to around 12 volt after
riding a while.

when it's cranking over (i.e. under load)? Less than 12V and it could be
the culprit. I've had batteries that showed more than 13V at rest but
went below 11V when loaded.

is on its way out. I'm yet to come across a reliable way of testing
these beasties other than putting a new one in and seeing if the problem
has gone away. Single phase STs eat Reg/Recs.

been running great, but last Sunday I was out and noticed that my
recharge light was not green and it was red. The bike was idling a
little rough and it got worse as I rode it. I got back home and turned
it off, and it did restart. I have to keep the idle high to keep it
going or else it will just idle down and finally off? Any ideas or help
would be great, The battery is good, and I do not seem to be having any
other issues. Â Thanks again! Kevin
