Hey Bob...'preciate the fast response. I figured the big unit was a GPS of some sort. I have a Garmin Nuvi for the car right now and I have an older Magellan that I had retired...the power button was iffy sometimes. I'll probably pull it out of retirement and work out mounting set up.

I have a Beltronics GX65 model radar detector for the car that is a bit weak on volume even in the car with tunes playing. And with my olde eyes, I doubt I'd be able to see it all that well on the bike...especially with the angle difference in viewing from the car to the bike...an '03 ST4s/'01 996 Superbike/'96 900SS/CR/'74 Norton Commando (positive ground!). I'll check out the different radar detectors for angle especially the Escort.

Last summer I was going to do some riding but was too busy with work so things slowed down and THIS year was going to be the ride year...and now they have me covering several rigs at a time, sooo...maybe next year? <grin> Year before last was the first year in 26 years that I put more miles in a cage than on the bikes. Since then, my bike mileage is getting lower and lower...drat!

Radar detector: Escort 9500ix. The module is part of the power feed to the unit. Escort calls it the Smart Cord. It has a button the can be used to mute the alert, lock out a false alarm location and it has an LED that indicates the unit is on. The LED also flashes as part of the alert.

For me the alert is not loud enough, even at full volume. I wear ear plugs though. I run the output through a bluetooth transmitter and I have a bluetooth communicator (BlueAnt) that has a speaker in the helmet. That allows me to hear the alerts. The way it's mounted makes it difficult to see the display. I have to rely on the audio alerts.

I have no issues with the ZG screen. I'm right at 6ft. tall. I know others have had issues with it, but I don't.

The DP unit is an old Garmin Streetpilot III GPS that was sold through Ducati a long time ago. Those pics are from 2005 or 2006. It has been replaced with a Garmin Nuvi which is mounted in the same location.

One caveat with the Escort is that it uses an ungrounded output. I had to have a cable made to hook it up to the transmitter. Oh, and I use an audio combiner for the Escort and Garmin and feed the output from that into the transmitter so I can hear both.

Hey Ryan, nice set up and pics! I have an '03 ST4s too in yellow. Right now I'm on a drilling rig so not at home to be a bit more specific on what is on my bike. I have a few questions if you don't mind....

The radar detector that you're using..what brand and model is it? The Passport switch cluster on the left handlebar...is that in conjunction with the radar detector? Is the alarm loud enough to hear while at speed?

The Zero Gravity tall screen, does it get the buffeting off (above?) your helmet? The one I have on my bike gives me a lot of buffeting and noise at speed, thus the worry rhat I can't hear the radar detector. I have one of the "motorcycle" dedicated radar detectors that was never used on the bike, only in the car and it crapped out from that use. It had one of the remote devices that attaches to the helmet on it but never got a chance to use it. Too much rig time and not enough ride time...but the $$ are good!

What's the Ducati Performance unit you have mounted on the triple trees? What all does it do?

I have an '03 ST4s. It has a small, threaded hole on the front of the upper
triple clamp. I bought a Techmount tall stem mount and used a socket head
cap screw to attach the mount to the front of the triple clamp. The radar
detector (Escort 9500ix) is attached with velcro to the mounting plate. I
attached the module for the smart cord on the left hand grip, also with
velcro.

The bike has the Zero Gravity tall screen and the detector sits nicely under
it. It does block the view of the instruments a bit, but I'm ok with that.
