Re: [DucatiST] what's happened

Nortons do that to you and still do! I'm going with a buddy of mine to check out a Mk III. If he can't come up with the scratch, I'll buy it. Right now I have one of my '74 850 Commandos running and have done all the tricks to it. My next trick is to drop a full boat 850 engine in it. As it is, it's a bit anemic with a single Mikuni carb on it but makes life simpler.

Once I get the race 850 in it, I'll be putting in 35mm FCRs from Colorado Norton Works. I need to contact the guy I bought the race engine from and have him go ahead and ship it now that I should be heading for the house tomorrow.

That's really interesting.  I have not traveled on a Multi 12, but did ride one for a couple of hours last fall.  The engine and its management is the most impressive internal-combustion thing I've ever seen (and that's given a long history of building and driving many fast cars and not a few motorcycles).  The fact is, I only had one concern:  That it had HUGE HP and Torque and I felt it had much more than necessary.  Maybe it's my age, but it scared me a couple of times.  There are 9 Ducs in my garage, and none of them has ever done that, with pure brute torque.

The style (form factor, if you like) is not what I would prefer, so I'll stick with the ST2, but that bike left an indelible impression on me.  I think the last time I felt like that was my first Norton, 45 years ago.

Maybe this will get the conversations going:

A few weeks ago my wife and I spent some quality time with a Multi 1200.

As a result, I will do whatever it takes to keep my '03 ST4s running and on the road.

I was not very impressed with the Multi.

Is the ST group sliding or slid off into a black hole? I get very few post.

After my wife and I went down to NC and set a land speed record coming back to
the mountains, I think we need to keep the ST's out there alive. Two up on ours we came
back up 220 from Rockingham to Greensboro at let me just say, a pretty good clip.
