Where do you live Reed? Common in the US to wear the left side of the front more b/c we tend to push harder/go faster into left hand turns. Why? We can see through the left hand turn better because we drive on the right hand side. Conversely, right hand turns are usually tighter and have less visibility so we take them slower. The opposite would be true if you lived in the UK or Down Under.

So, take your bike overseas and even out that front tire ;)

You will definitely know Ohlins fronts, b/c they are the distinct Ohlins gold fork body and slider, will most likely be proudly boasting the Ohlins logo on the bottoms.

The forks you are describing are Showas with gold nitride coated sliders. I don't know what the ST3 S came with, but could very well be Showas up front and everything is totally normal.

My rear shock certainly displays the Ohlins colors but on the forks the only thing gold is the male section of the USD fork. The bike is wearing the front tire a little weirdly (much more just left of center) and feels different on right and left turns - I have seen some fairing brackets slightly bent. How rough a life did this thing have in the 2700 miles before I bough it?
