TomTom Rider 1? Anyone tried the Tommys? They have some good deals on refurbed ones.

I have the 550 and it's fine in the sun...but so is my el cheapo Garmin. Angle of viewing is touchy on either one.

The Zumo 450 that I was using did not overcome direct sunlight entirely. The Zumo 660 that I now use for motorcycles is pretty good. I haven't had a problem seeing the map in any situation.

I too have been using low cost/eBay units but have found the screen brightness in full sunlight to be a real problem - can't see the screen directions! Do the "motorcycle grade" Zumo series units really overcome this problem? Any insight would be appreciated as i'm getting ready to pull the trigger.Thx
