I've found ebay a pretty good guide as to market value (apart from the occasional nonsensical bid).

You'd be EXTREMELY lucky to get 4-5k UKP (or even USD) for an ST4; I've seen ST4Ss go for less than that, with less mileage, and often with luggage.

I've found that unless you are lucky extra accessories rarely add to the value (which is daft when you consider how much better an ST2 or ST4 handles with the rear Ohlins shock from an ST4s!). It seems better (if illogical) to strip the goodies and sell them separately.

I agree with you: I would NEVER buy a bike without test-riding it properly. Why people expect to sell without this I do not know.
