Re: [DucatiST] Re: shorai-lfx18a1-bs12-lithium-iron-battery

Ha!
II has been flawless. I run lots of electrical stuff, but also have a voltmeter and stay within the limits of the system. I figure with a 'shunt' type alternator I may as well use the power for something than have the regulator shunt it anyway.
It is always on a Battery Tender when not out on the road.

2005 battery...when it finally gives up the ghost, you need to have it bronzed and put it on the mantle or in the trophy case!

The Shorai web site says the Deltran battery Tender is just fine.
You just can't use one that has anti- sulfation modes.
(Well, that's what I read on their website anyway)

I will probably buy one of those for KTM dirtbike (to drop a bit of weight with more power)- and perhaps the Multi (still has original 2005 batt)

The cost of the battery was $168.25 and the tender was $71.95 or $240.20 USD. The weight difference is amazing and I haven't needed to keep this battery on a tender during the riding season. I have used the Shorai tender for extended winter time non-use. The battery comes with a bunch of foam blocks that you can cut to size to fill up the original battery space so the new battery doesn't flop around. As I use LT's fan switch almost all the time riding in the city it doesn't appear to cause any problems with the Shorai.
