Re: [DucatiST] Radiator Hoses

For what it's worth, David, old hoses can deteriorate internally and fill your cooling system with rotten chunks of rubber.  My method is to feel them regularly; see if any have soft areas.  Otherwise, I believe 10 years, or close to that, is about the lifetime of any hose.

I will admit, that the 2002 ST2 (75000km) is only water-cooled bike that I
currently own.

What is the current wisdom on changing rad hoses? Is this something that
needs to be done on a "regular" basis, or do you just wait until they start
leaking or otherwise giving problems? I know that on my cars, I don't think
that I have ever changed a rad hose, but on the other hand, none of my cars
usually get as old as this bike.

I keep looking at the Samco hoses (in blue, of course!) and wondering if I
should bite the bullet and get a set, especially while they are still
available. How much longer are we going to be able to get aftermarket bits
for bikes that have been out of production for 10 years?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
