Guys, that is ridiculous. I'm going to Sicily in May and I'm thinking
about hiring a Monster. There's more than one moto hire place in
Sicily but, for example, http://www.sicilymotorent.it/en/tariffe/
is hiring M696s for Eur450 p.w. OK, that's twice the price of a
small car, but in Europe, where motorcycle hire is unusual, I wouldn't
complain. $3000 is outrageous, or has Google messed up on translation?
Maybe that's the deposit?
A quick google reveals:
ST3s hire Eur1555 for two weeks in Rome from
http://www.cimt.it/ducati_rental.htm
or M695 for Eur 1345 for two weeks. That's still a bit steep, but was
the first hit that I got.
If I were you, I'd spend a bit more time searching. Do you know that
you can put URLs into Google translate and have Italian websites shown
in English? (and they work, so that you can follow links, make bookings
and so on.)
If you've got ventilated riding gear I recommend that you take it with
you!
