Re: [DucatiST] Re: Austin Moto gp

I'm with ya, Andy.  For me, it's the artistry and just amazing pure talent.  First time I've EVER seen an elbow down, when it was tucked in close!  I have no investment in who wins, given that Ducati has been out of it for so long.

I'm not sure these messages would have been a spoiler for me, really, but I avoided the potential problem by not reading them until I'd watched the race :-)

Awesome track, yes.  Boring?  I would disagree.

It did become processional after a while but the riding at the front was exquisite, as was the decisive overtake.  The camera-work was great (*much* better than at most previous internationally-screened American races) but the editing could have made it more of a spectacle.  As it was, we could only marvel at technical excellence in all of its elbow-down glory.  C'mon guys, if you *really* watched them  (switch off the phone, put down the laptop) how could you be bored?  They're the most extraordinary riders on the most superlative machines.  History was made by the winner.  With more even-handed editing I'd have liked to have seen the battles between 4th and 8th place, but that's always difficult to do on live tv.

A decade ago I did some amateur racing and since then I've always marvelled at the top guys; it shapes my perspective to some extent.

My typical viewing pattern these days is to watch the big class first, then to watch the Moto 3 and 2 guys rub elbows, steal apexes and swap paint!

cheers
