Re: [DucatiST] bicycles

wellll, I see we have some avid and serious bicyclist on here. I have a job which means I train 8 hours a day
and then ride the bike. ;) (do you see the logging in my sig. ;)) Anyway, I took it back up because all the
mountain climbing during the day, with a chainsaw (660 stihl) and my tool belt (20lbs plus an axe) was working
on my left hip. The off hip from the leg that was broke during the deer incident. I returned to work in two days
after breaking my leg though I couldn't put any weight on it for 3 months, so it involved a lot of hopping on that
left side. And then one starts to favor the left to protect the right and develops bad habits whilst stumbling round
in the brush toting the above mention implements. Long story short,

I've found the bike gives the hip the correct movement and that along with some stretching (i'll not admit to yoga ;))
is putting the hip back in the norm. I'll still keep up the biking 3 times a week since I found I really missed it.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

That sux, Gary!

Fellow liSTer, James Eitelberg, and I did the Alpine Challenge century last weekend.  10k feet of climbing.  A few pics on Picasa...

The weekend before James did the Mt Laguna Bicycle Classic (100 miles and 10k feet) while I did the Tour de Cure Century (100 miles and 6k feet.)  Some pics from my ride....

Last October we did The Furnace Creek 508 (508 miles and 35k feet) as part of a 4-person relay team.  We each did 2 stages totaling about 135 miles and 10k feet of climbing each.  It took our team about 37 hours.  This October we will do it as a 2-person relay team.  This is a self-supported race with each team having a support vehicle .  Some pics from last year's race...

And 200+ pics from Barber when we did our Double Madness trip in 2007...

Best,

Dang it all to hell Gary.

Must quit crashing, must quit crashing.

I know, I know...happens so damn fast you don't have time to say "oh shit!".

Hope your procedure goes A-O-K.  Best wishes, prayers and good vibes coming your way.

Take care Bro.

Was doing major miles on my Willier road bike until 10 days ago. Was
on a training ride and took a major spill and destroyed my left
shoulder. couple of random fractures, shreaded rotator cuff, labrum &
abatch of etcs. Surgery next week. Sucks. I was in great riding shape
and working my way back onto motos. progress slammed. & typing with
one hand also chews.
