There is some good info in Ducatims See this link http://www.ducati.ms/forums/40-sport-touring/84550-steering-head-bearing-seal-interference.html I put my comments ion the second page (ducsrfun). Depending what kit you got the lip seals could be a problem. I installed mine with lip side down for the bottom bearing and lip side up in the top bearing. It's explained in the thread. Randy

Richard,
The outer races, the ones in the frame, are easily removed with a drift. In other words, pound them out with a hammer and a (punch, extension, what-have-you). Its installing the new ones where you have to be careful not to do any damage. I did mine many years ago, so I don't remember exactly what I used, but probably a large socket that was just smaller than the OD of the race. You need to keep the race aligned to the head as you drive it in, and you need to avoid marring the bearing surfaces.

I just ordered a the replacement tapered steering head bearings, and the steering stem nut removal tool, but from what I read I will also need some special tools (homemade if necessary) to remove the upper and lower bearing races.
Does anyone have these that I could borrow? I live in the Atlanta area, but I would be fine with shipping both ways as well.
Thanks,
