While that surgery involves a great deal more damage to bone (don't ask about the hole saw nor the sledgehammer!) the rehab was a lot smoother than it sounds like you're in for.
I'm back on the bicycle two weeks after my hernia surgery, and dang, I could've done it a week out if I wasn't such a chicken.
