The speedo on my ST2 is horrendously off as compared to the GPS. At an indicated 120 kph (75 mph), the GPS shows about 108 kph. It seems to read about 10% high.
It is not really a problem because I use my head to compensate. Where it really gets interesting is when I ride in the States where everything is in miles (my speedo only shows kph). Not only do I have to do the conversion for the mph to kph, then add the 10% correction factor, I still have to add the 10 mph over that I figure I can get away with without getting a ticket! Too much math!
If you have a mechanical drive speedo, there is not much you can do other then send the speedo out and have it calibrated properly. If it is driven electronically, you can use a “Speedo Healer” to bias the reading to make it more accurate.
I hope this helps
