RE: [DucatiST] Shoulder to lean on....

The speedo on my ST2 is horrendously off as compared to the GPS. At an indicated 120 kph (75 mph), the GPS shows about 108 kph. It seems to read about 10% high.

It is not really a problem because I use my head to compensate. Where it really gets interesting is when I ride in the States where everything is in miles (my speedo only shows kph). Not only do I have to do the conversion for the mph to kph, then add the 10% correction factor, I still have to add the 10 mph over that I figure I can get away with without getting a ticket! Too much math!

If you have a mechanical drive speedo, there is not much you can do other then send the speedo out and have it calibrated properly. If it is driven electronically, you can use a “Speedo Healer” to bias the reading to make it more accurate.

I hope this helps

Haha... Ya got me there. I doubt I could describe it either. Be well, ... How's that? ;-)

General question for the group. Since I purchased my ST3 last Nov, every time I ride, it has "felt" like I am going slower than the speedo indicates. Ie, going 65 (by speedo) seems slower - with my S4 916 as a reference. That said, I got a free speedometer app for my phone, with a large number display, slipped it in my tank bag's map pouch, and went for a ride. Indeed, the bike's speed was 5 mph faster than the GPS/app speed! Double checked the app against the car, and it was dead on.

My question is - has anyone else run across this type of discrepancy? If so, any way of correcting/re-calibrating it?

If nothing else, I guess I'm a little less likely to get a speeding ticket if I "go the limit" according to the speedo.

Thanks!
