Re: [DucatiST] Not a Ducati engine...

Cool Guzzi.

120 degree cylinder spread and exposed hairpin valve springs, interesting.

Fabio Taglionoi, Ducati's "Dr. T" designed a 250 cc V-4 in 1948 while an engineering student in Bologna.

Dr. T. did design and build the 1,260 cc Apollo V-4, primarily for the U.S Police market in 1964.  But it overpowered the tires and suspension available then, putting out over 100 hp.  One prototype was made and it really shows Dr. T's genius in engineering.

"Ducati Twins"  by Mick Walker should be a mandatory read for every Ducati enthusiast, among other great books on the marque.

Ciao, Nick Alaniz, 2002 ST4$.

...but an "L" twin configuration, 40 years ahead of Taglioni's. A glorious Italian nonetheless: http://bikerenews.com/AntiqueBikes/1948MotoGuzzi500VtwinGrandPrix.html
