I know some of you are very savvy with electrics and current. I have a weird question for you. I have a device that can be powered by a 12 volt battery or an ac adapter.. I want to wire the ac adapter straight to my battery, without using an inverter. The device can run on a 12 volt battery, but I don't want to replace it every trip i take. The ac adapter says that it outputs 12 volts DC at 200ma.. If I cut the ac adapter off, and wire it straight to my bike's battery, will I see the magic smoke? I am worried about the voltage being too high while riding. Or am I missing something else that the AC adapter does that is vital to the operation?

Thanks,

Nate, if you have access to a meter read the AC adapter output. It will more than likely be higher than 12VDC by a little. Most
electronics have some regulation in the front end so I would think the chance that it would be OK is pretty good.
