Here's a photo of the Darmah frame. You can see the large holes where the robust alloy carriers resided.

Not sure if it was more expensive to make than the axle end adjusters. Imho, non-changing tire alignment was worth the cost.

Hi Nick, the pivot was in the swing arm it had bronze bushes which had to be greased regularly this was also used in the Darmahs and proved very reliable and cheap to service the bushes could be replaced with minimum of tools and little experience

Were those early Ducatis running the SA pivot in the cases or in the frame? It would be easier to design for a decent diameter of pivot, including eccentrics, if it was frame mounted. Several benefits come from case-mounted swingarms, of course.
