Mate, when i say nipped up all i did was do up the axle nuts to where they would normally reside (not too technical, just a few threads hanging out each side), the gap=4mm.
A possibility for BEST FIX is if a monster, or 900ss has a 4mm wider drive hub,and the chain in the same place as the ST, then i can GO standard, still open to any suggestions, and thanx so far, regards.lee

Ah...apologies Lee. "Nipped up" to me means it's been damaged while as you just explained to you it means tightened them up. Separated by a common language and all that.
Monsters and 900ss have the same drive hubs, again, I have swapped out many since I have several lying around it's easy to swap gear ratios with sprockets already mounted instead of unbolting them from a single drive hub.
Again, not being contrary. It's just that in my experience these should be straight swaps with zero alignment issues and I'm afraid there might be something missing or other underlying problem.
