What you say make sense but be careful when you say "all". Some maybe but not all. My M620 has the same headstock bearings/yoke tube as my older carbed bikes and the 900SSi.e. also. My point being, it's not a simple "pick one up off ebay and it'll fit.
I'm sure it's a simple matter of checking the specs of any parts taken off donor machines to see if they'll fit and personally, I like the idea of making an ST more sporty by dropping the grips via clipons etc. Several friends have taken ST-4's on track and they are a hoot, if a tad more work to hustle around.
I am interested in seeing pics and reading a writeup if anyone does this conversion also.

All SS models have different head bearing and probably a different headstock diameter.
