I am having a difficult time getting the 19mm Dzus fasteners to reach and engage, so I thought I would try 21mm length Dzus. Also, it looks like there is an additional part of the front part of the fairing to be trimmed which is not shown in the instructions, in order to get the side fairing to more easily slide in behind the uppers. I've only been able to find bits and pieces of info in the web that fully describes the complete installation. I'd really appreciate if any of you guys had any input or could share how they like this modification.

>Hi Marty, I know just how you feel about this "modification", I ran into the same issues. Removing more of the lower fairings to get well past the 'new bracket' mounting will allow the 19mm Dzus fasterners to catch and hold. The fairing will still look OEM but for the fasterners. Try putting the lowers on 1st to see how much you need to remove to get closer to the new bracket. I had to crush the Dzus fasterners almost flat to get them to catch and hold. Finding a way to keep the female Dzus brackets in position needs addressing too, as it is a squeezy fit. One lister cut off those chin, vent, fairing tabs you mention to allow it to be fitted after the lowers were installed, there are other comments about this topic on this list and sadly the majority aren't overly impressed. I'm going to play with the setup again next time I need the fairings off, to see if I can get the benefits as described in the sales pitch. But it isn't something I look forward to. Too late to change my mind now, about the change, as the fairing has been cut, but my opinion of the modification is negative, but I hope to get the benefits of leaving the uppers in position eventually. Good luck, let me know how it works out.
