Quite right, Jan! On the ST I got a bit carried away (I didn't know if the concept would work) and fitted multiple LEDs in the edge of my screen, and they are definitely too bright at night. It was easy enough to add a resistance circuit to dim them, though. I've not bothered on all the other bikes because I don't need to be looking straight at the LED to see it and register its function, and I don't often ride them at night. Red is of course pretty compatible with night vision anyway.
