Re: [DucatiST] St2 or St4

My ST2 has 90k miles on it and it's apart in the garage as it's being converted to a hooligan/cafe bike. The ST4 of the same year (2000) now has 17k miles on it and I love the upgrade to the 4-valve. That being said, I do all my own maintenance on all of my bikes as well as my wife's bikes.

I get comparable mileage on the ST4 to what I got on the ST2. Both bikes are mid 40 mpg all day long. Comfort is identical on both machines, but the power of the 4 is much greater.

You cannot go wrong with the ST2. I still say it was the best bike I've ever had for everything that I like to do, including track, commutes and touring. The ST4 is something I wanted the first time I rode it. I love the feel of the 916 engine. Plenty of torque down low and plenty of power on top for me.

Hi All

I am from South of Sydney, Australia and am currently a Suzuki RG500 owner but not for long. I have long admired Ducati's and have decided to sell of the Suzuki, which I have long desired and get a bike with touring capabilities. I have read as much as could have got my hands on about the ST2 and ST4's yet feel the need to get help from those that have had long term ownership rather than merely test pilots who have ridden the bikes for maybe a day and then write as experts.
