Regardless of the year I would check the bolts for torque annually and replace once stretched, the risk is not worth it IMHO.

I took it to a dealer up here ( Canada )and had the belts done, valves adjusted etc. just to make sure all was good. I changed the oil, put a K&N filter in and rode it all of last summer. Just a great bike. The FJ 1200 is a lot of fun but the ST is much lighter and easier to ride.
