I did likewise, the idea of drilling the cases out didn't seem like a good idea. That area has seen a bit of stress over the years and by removing material from the area sounds simple enough it didn't seem like the correct way to do this. If the engine was remove and drilled properly that my be the way to go, but to take a drill bit and just start hacking away at my frame and motor just seemed wrong.
Of course I judge this based on some of my previous mistakes. LOL.
