To answer your questions, its asked that you order the replacement shims from emsduc.com Its owned by Ducatimike, great prices fast shipping. You only need to order the shims you took out of the kit to use. Whatever sizes that may be.
The calipers are battery operated. It may just be a bad/dead battery. Heat and such kills them pretty quickly. And if you leave them on, I am not sure if it has an auto off built in.
