Re: [DucatiST] Valve shim kit rules

HI Andy,
I supplied the kit to the group.  You can order online at www.emsduc.com.  I didn't supply the calipers so cant answer that question.  The kit is worth new about $400 to replace if it has extra shims?

I'm done with the 2 valve kit. I'll ship it back to Will tomorrow or the next day, depending on how dangerous it is outside. Not the weather mind you, it's all the panicked people out there convinced the sky is falling.

Perhaps someone can tell me the rules for using the kit as no one replied to an earlier post on the list .A search in the archives either turned up nothing or my search terms failed.

I used 3 shims. I'm assuming I'm supposed to exchange my old ones for new, but now there is not 7.1 or 7.2 closer in the kit. Of course those will be the ones Will will need if Murphy's laws holds true.

Is there a preferred place to order shims from?

The Duc dealer here in Birmingham closed last fall, so I can't get any locally. I'd happily order the replacements and have them shipped to the next user.

Also, the calipers in the kit didn't seem to work. I messed with them a little bit, but as I have both calipers and micrometers, I didn't need them.
As for shipping, I assume it gets insured . How much should I insure it for?

Thanks,

Andy Lee
