I put the standard fairing back on my ST4s a few weeks ago. I think
it's more comfortable to ride behind* and looks better than the
Comfort Fairing that's been in place since I bought the bike.
However, I may drift back to the Comfort Fairing for one reason.
It's much easier to get on and off the bike! Yesterday my speedometer
cable came off the speedometer. I took the screen and supporting plastic
out quickly, screwed the speedometer cable back on and got it tight, then
spent about an hour getting the screen back in place! Ok, the extra
wires for the DD headlamp take up some extra space, but it's very
difficult to manipulate the plastic support and the screen simultaneously
when there's so little clearance. After several attempts in which the
front right well nut decided to jump ship, I've left it it out until
I've got more time and patience.
I hope I can master the art of getting the standard front fairing
on and off, because I certainly prefer it.
*For what it's worth I'm 179cm (about 5' 11") tall.
