You are correct Michael...one is a 1000 and the other is a 1100, both air cooled. The hyper motor was taken from one of the stunt bikes used on the set of Terminator 3. It was beaten to hell, and if you look closely the cases have big welds from the stunt riders, literally cracking the cases while riding on set.
Ducati North America has almost know involvement with the Ducati Flat Tracker....no money, no parts, nada. The Hypermotor was donated, b/c nobody else could use it.
Brad Baker is a hell of a rider for a rookie, here is a look at what the Ducati did at the first Springfield Mile in 2011....it was definitely fast enough, but the handling wore Baker out and he dropped off the pace:

But once they're all running in their powerbands, none of the bikes, including the Harleys, sound all that different from each other. At least for two cylinder bikes. The Ducati was basically stuck in the second pack, behind a bunch of Harleys.

The Ducati came 5th at Calistoga, another 30 yards and he would have been 3rd.
Kid is riding real well and the point leader for rookie of the year.
I talked with one the team techs after the race and he said they are on a shoestring keeping 2 bikes going but that they are committed and have a 796 to experiment with.
The current bikes are either 1000 or 1100 (I forget) and might have too much.
I heard a similar thing at Laguna in 2010 from a DNA employee,
that the 1100 Hyper had too much power and that the employees all preferred riding the 796 since it was much harder to get into trouble with it but it was just as fast.
Thanks,
