I'm not sure on this, but somewhere in my past I tied two yellow wires together electrically and then used that as a single wire along with the third wire. I think it was suggested that the third wire be be clipped off and isolated...not sure if this is correct so please check further or at least leave enough wire so that they can be joined later if needed. Someone with the instructions to a new regulator might shed some clarifying light on the subject. Mine is in a box of books somewhere due to me moving. As to fuses and breakers, they are designed to protect the wiring, not the appliance/s, thus the reason for having the fusing close to the source of power. Too bad the fuse close to Washington is so way over rated! ...or wrong fuse! <lol> Hopper

EVERY wire coming off of the battery should be fused. The regulator is no different. I was just saying to make sure that the wire running from the regulator to the battery is fused near the battery. When I bought my bike the wires were all jacked up, the previous owner did a regulator swap and did a horrible job with the wiring. He had used wire nuts to cover two wires wrapped together with no solder. There was also no fuse, which is VERY dangerous. --- In st2_owners@yahoogroups.com, "tomlinsonbarry" <tomlinsonbarry@...> wrote: > > Thanks for the info on the yellow wires, but i'm not sure what you mean about the fuse near the battery. > > Can you explain a bit more about that please. > > Cheers and thanks again > Barry > > --- In st2_owners@yahoogroups.com, "nate_isu_2000" <nateducst2@> wrote: > > > > That's the ticket. Worked on mine for a couple years with no issues. All three yellows are the same, use any two. Make sure you fuse close to the battery, I use a 40 amp car stereo fuse on mine. > > > > Nate > > 98'ST2 > > Charleston, SC
