I'm in Alabama, I'm sure it gets plenty hot enough here to require one. That said, I'm not sure how long the motor has been frozen. I mostly ride my '92 R100GS in the summer and on short trips. I mostly use the ST2 for multi day tours. Last time I remember it coming on was early summer.
