Greg, I'm sure that would make a big difference. I've read that now several times while scanning the internet since I decided to go back to the ST model. It also seems that most comments suggest that the 4 valve is everything that the 2 valve is, only better, if only a bit more expensive to maintain. And it might have been that particular bike that I tested over the weekend, but I wasn't in love. Probably a combination of the more VFR body style, the digital dash, the lack of ooomph at initial twist of the throttle and the good, but not as good, sound of my 2. At least to my ears.
I think it's a personal thing. However, I'd be open to another ST4/ST4S or ST3/ST3S if it strikes that nerve in me. I would need to ride these to be sure though. If I come across the ST2, Id probably buy it without even riding it. Probably.
Thanks for all of these replies! It's that time of the year where I'm itching to take a motorcycle trip, but the season is still a ways off.

The MS turned out to be a money pit (swelling gas tank, clutch issues, and more) so I sold that as well. I've regretted selling the ST2 and decided to get another one or one of the other ST models, but have been finding them difficult to get my hands on.

I don't know if it was that particular bike, but it didn't have the "feel" that my ST2 had. It was plenty powerful, but seemed to lack a bit of throttle response and it didn't sound nearly as sweet as my ST2 (my ST2 had Staintune pipes, man did it sound sweet). Any thoughts from those that have had experience riding the different motors/models? I noticed the top end benefit from the ST4S, but I'd rather have the low end. It keeps me from losing my license for one thing. Sort of.
