If you fix it "right," it would take about 4 hours to install a new stator, regulator and the wire to move the regulator to a place where it is in the airflow.  Once that is done, unless you're stuck in freeway traffic above 90 degrees, it'll charge for many years.

I do almost none of my own work on my bikes. I don't have the time, the tools or the talent/skill. So I put my cherished items repairs and maintenance into more capable hands.

That said, I probably wouldn't be looking for something that I couldn't at least start up and probably ride.
