I just had a similar problem with my quiet modified clutch pack. The clutch started slipping whenever I gave it more than 1/8 throttle. When I opened up the clutch - the top friction plate was about worn down to the aluminum plate; only a small amount of friction material left. all other friction plates looked like they had very little wear after 10,000 miles on what was then new set of Barnett plates. So, why the wear on just on e plate? BTW, shifting, finding neutral, and other factors associated with the clutch action had been flawless until the slipping began. My fix was to put some old original friction plates back in the stack. It now is working just fine. Go figure?????
