Re: [DucatiST] Hobatz healing - progress report?

howdy, allan. nice to hear from you. tell susan i'm already held
together with wads of duct tape and wire, so no need to carry more. I
can just go innnard and grab some and apply elsewhere.

just now realizing the scope of the injury and repair.my doc is
Patrick geis who heads the sports medicine/orthopaedic team for the
pac 12. he told donna after the four hour surgery he had not seen such
extensive damage to ligaments, tendons, muscles 'n nerves in his
decades of practice. all tendons were torn from the bone and retracted
to remote areas of shoulder 'n arm. part of procedure was done via
scope and there are seven entry points surrounding shoulder. the open
part of the surgery required a six inch incision in front of shoulder.
this was needed access to rebuild the bicep.

recovery will be long 'n slow. if all the stitching, nailing 'n
stapling holds for the next two months, then I can start limited
rehab. if things go well for the following six weeks, rehab will get
more serious. if things go very well, I should have decent but limited
movement at six months post op. with no set backs during course of
rehab, I should be in good shape in 10-12 months.

pain is not really quenchable, but with poundage of hard drugs sort of
manageable. thought is clearly a casualty by design. coat the brain in
a shit mist and the brain's owner deals with it. it's a toss up if the
shoulder 'n bicep hurt more than slamming my nuts in a car door. if
the car drives away after the slam, the pain 'o meter tilts toward the
door job. if car stays put, I flip a coin.

not certain if this is a progress report, but it's the best I could
muster. time to reenter the shit mist.
