Hi Nick, They say a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. You are right the latter reg's are mounted in the Ali air intake, the early 98's were mounted under the Ali air intake between the nose fairing and had little air flow. my 98's are both in the air intake as per 99 on, my favorite old 98 has now well over 200,000km's, no issues with failures. Well, that's weird! I always understood that the nose/intake was the preferred position and early RRs needed to be shifted to there to take advantage of cool air and the heatsink of the headlamp mount. Are you saying they do better down beside the motor??
