Re: [DucatiST] Chain

Time for a new one....this is normal.  There is always one link that goes first because it lost the orings or grease, collected debris, etc.

You can obviously ride it if you are in a pinch, but it will cause premature wear on the rest of your sprockets, drive train.  I broke teeth on a sprocket, trying to stretch a chain's life for a few hundred more miles.

In my experience DID is the best chain....the extra $$ you spend will also buy you extra mileage and minimize adjustments.

I have adjusted and serviced my chain till my fingers are permanently grease stained, but with no improvement. The chain has the proper tension except at one point. At this point the chain becomes very tight and one link actually lifts off the rear sprocket and makes a clicking noise when it pops back onto the rear sprocket. Am I incorrectly adjusting the chain, or do I need a new chain?
Thanks for the help, Bill (1999 ST2)
